U.S. President Donald Trump has confirmed that the United States will provide Ukraine with a license to produce Patriot missile system missiles, stating that both Russia and Ukraine want an end to the war.

“We will give you a license to produce Patriot missiles. This is very interesting. That way, you cannot complain that we are not giving you enough,” Trump said during a meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the NATO summit in Ankara.

Trump described the Patriot system as a defensive weapon, saying he preferred such systems over offensive weapons.

“It’s a defensive weapon, which I like much more than an offensive weapon,” he said.

Zelenskyy has repeatedly requested additional U.S.-made Patriot interceptors, which are among the few systems capable of defending against certain ballistic missile threats.

Trump was also asked whether he plans to visit Ukraine. He did not rule out the possibility, but said that his priority would be to first work toward ending the war.

The announcement comes as Ukraine continues seeking stronger air defense capabilities amid ongoing Russian attacks, while Washington remains involved in discussions over military support and diplomatic efforts to end the conflict.
