The European Commission has commemorated the victims of the Srebrenica genocide, honoring the memory of more than 8,300 people who were killed and expressing solidarity with the families who continue to live with the consequences of the tragedy.
In a message marking the anniversary of the genocide, the European Commission emphasized that healing the wounds of the past requires courage, genuine commitment, and a sustained dedication to reconciliation.
“Today, we pause to remember the more than 8,300 victims of the Srebrenica genocide and the families who continue to grieve. Healing the wounds of the past requires courage, sincere engagement, and a genuine commitment to reconciliation. To the people of Bosnia and Herzegovina: we stand with you,” the European Commission said.
