The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, during an interview for the Swiss medium “Die Weltwoche”, spoke about the Kosovo-Serbia dialogue, according to which “there is no agreement with Kosovo”.

According to him, a compromise was close – but he says it has not been reached. I leave the blame for this to Kosovo.

He did not leave without mentioning the Association of municipalities with a Serbian majority, which he says is an obligation of Kosovo since the first agreement in 2013 in Brussels.

It is now different, according to the Serbian president – there is no dialogue at all. Presenting himself as a “progressive politician”, as he says that he is ready to talk with the Kosovar side.

“A compromise solution is needed, we were close. They did not want to be reached. Now we are far from a compromise solution, we don’t even talk to each other, although we are ready to talk. We want to establish the Association, which is an obligation from the first agreement, it is a difficult situation, but we will do everything to maintain peace”, stated Vucic.

Furthermore, he stated that a version “where Albanians win everything” and “Serbs nothing” cannot be achieved in practice.

“There cannot be a one-sided solution, according to which the Albanians win everything and the Serbs lose everything. Nobody is stupid in Serbia. We know how difficult the situation is, but that’s why we insist on a compromise solution”, stated Vucic.

Often, the Serbian president’s statements have contradicted his practices in the region.
