Dr. Arsim Gërxhaliu has recalled the devastating conditions he encountered when he first entered the Institute of Forensic Medicine in the aftermath of the Kosovo War.
Speaking on T7’s Pressing One, Gërxhaliu described the scene inside the facility, where the scale of the deaths left a lasting impression.
He said the basement was filled with refrigerators that were already overcrowded, while numerous bodies had been placed on the floor.
“The refrigerators in the basement were completely full, and there were so many bodies on the floor that there was nowhere to put your feet,” Gërxhaliu recalled.
His testimony offers a stark account of the conditions faced by forensic teams in the immediate aftermath of the war, as they worked to document and identify victims.
