Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić has publicly endorsed the “United Serbia” electoral list, describing it as the “only safe choice” for the country’s continued progress.

In a post published on his official Instagram account, Vučić said his responsibility was to protect the state and rely on what he described as the will of the people.

“My job is to tell the truth and protect the state. We have no other country, only Serbia. I rely on the people, on the will of the people, and I do not seek to please anyone,” Vučić said.

He added that governing a country requires both firmness and fairness, while stressing the importance of strong leadership.

“The only safe choice is the United Serbia list, and that is it,” Vučić said.

His remarks came a day after he discussed Serbia’s economic performance during a visit to Kruševac, where he highlighted an increase in employment in the city. According to Vučić, Kruševac had around 25,000 employed people in 2012, compared with approximately 37,000 today.

Responding to opposition claims that the campaign could involve around €1 billion in budget spending, Vučić said the state should provide citizens with as much support as its finances allow while maintaining control over public debt.

He argued that public investment should focus on infrastructure and development rather than simply distributing money, saying that construction projects support domestic companies, create jobs and help attract new investors and industrial activity.

Vučić also criticized opposition parties, accusing them of being primarily interested in political positions and claiming that they would not run themselves but would instead nominate what he described as even less capable candidates.

The president’s endorsement of the “United Serbia” list comes amid increasing political activity ahead of the next electoral cycle and further highlights his direct involvement in promoting the political bloc he considers essential for Serbia’s future.
