Finnish President Alexander Stubb has stated that he does not believe Russia would launch an attack against any NATO member state.
In an interview with the German newspaper “Bild,” Stubb described warnings that Moscow could be prepared to attack NATO territory by 2029 as speculative.
According to him, there is no evidence to support such a scenario, and Russia would have little interest in confronting the most powerful military alliance in the world.
Nevertheless, Stubb stressed that member states must remain vigilant and prepare for the worst-case scenario in order to prevent it from becoming a reality.
The Finnish president also expressed doubts that Russia would use nuclear weapons in Ukraine. He said that a senior Chinese official had assured him that Beijing would not allow such a development.
According to Stubb, part of Moscow’s information strategy is aimed at spreading fear across Europe through warnings about an escalation of the war, the use of nuclear weapons, and the possibility of a conflict with NATO.
