HERCEG NOVI — New details have emerged from the investigation into the triple killing in Montenegro, after police recovered a significant cache of weapons and other items from the forest where Russian national Mihail Nikolaevich Shabunin, 30, was found dead.
Montenegrin police said officers investigating the scene above the Topla settlement in Herceg Novi seized two pistols and more than 230 rounds of ammunition. Authorities suspect the weapons and ammunition had been taken from a shooting range in Danilovgrad after the killings.
Police also recovered a mobile phone, tablets and other items. The seized material has been sent for forensic examination as investigators work to establish the full circumstances surrounding the attack.
Shabunin was suspected of killing three employees at the Češka Zbrojevka shooting range near Danilovgrad before fleeing the scene. The victims were identified as Nemanja Kapor, 20, Petar Globarević, 24, and Momir Radonjić, 67.
The suspect was later located in a wooded area above Herceg Novi after an extensive police search. According to Montenegrin authorities, he opened fire toward police officers before taking his own life.
Further reports indicate that investigators also found knives, plastic ties, rope, gloves and a quantity of tablets, ampoules and injections in his backpack, although authorities have not yet established the significance of those items.
The investigation remains ongoing, with police and prosecutors continuing to examine the evidence and determine what led to the deadly attack.
