Kosovo’s First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, Glauk Konjufca, said he held a series of meetings with international officials and Kosovo’s partners during the High-Level Week of the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York.
Konjufca said that, together with Prime Minister Albin Kurti, he met Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković and Croatian Foreign and European Affairs Minister Gordan Grlić Radman.
He described Croatia as one of Kosovo’s closest regional partners, highlighting cooperation in security and defense and support for Kosovo’s Euro-Atlantic integration.
“This consolidated partnership, built over the years, creates new opportunities to further deepen cooperation between our two countries,” Konjufca said.
He also met Dutch Foreign Minister Tom Berendsen, with whom he raised the first-instance judgment of the Kosovo Specialist Chambers against former Kosovo Liberation Army leaders Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Rexhep Selimi and Jakup Krasniqi.
Konjufca said he conveyed Kosovo’s position that the judgment distorts the historical record and constitutes a serious injustice, adding that Prishtina believes it should be corrected through the appeals process.
During his meetings in New York, Konjufca also held talks with UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
He described political relations between Kosovo and the United Arab Emirates as excellent and said Kosovo aims to give the relationship a stronger economic dimension. The two officials discussed increasing investment and opportunities for practical cooperation in the coming years.
Konjufca also met Djibouti Foreign Minister Abdoulkader Houssein Omar and exchanged views with Rwandan Prime Minister Justin Nsengiyumva and Foreign Minister Olivier Nduhungirehe.
According to Konjufca, the discussions focused on strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation between Kosovo and the respective countries.
“From New York, we continue our engagement to strengthen Kosovo’s partnerships and advance our country’s interests on the international stage,” Konjufca said.
