Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said he is ready to participate in a trilateral meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin, as diplomatic efforts continue to find a path toward ending the war in Ukraine.
Speaking to reporters after a roughly 40-minute meeting with Trump, Zelensky said the two leaders discussed the possibility of an agreement with Russia on a ceasefire covering attacks against energy infrastructure, as well as broader diplomatic efforts to end the conflict.
Zelensky said Kyiv was prepared to consider any form of an “energy ceasefire” with Russia, while clarifying that there had been no discussion of a unilateral suspension of Ukrainian attacks on Russian oil refineries.
The Ukrainian president also reiterated his willingness to take part in direct trilateral talks with Trump and Putin.
Zelensky expressed hope that Washington would find a way to bring Moscow to the negotiating table as part of efforts to establish a broader framework for ending the war.
