Hysni Gucati, chairman of the Organization of Kosovo Liberation Army War Veterans (OVL-UÇK), has spoken about Thursday’s protest in Prishtina against the convictions of four former KLA leaders.
Gucati said he expects more than 100,000 people to participate in the protest, which is scheduled to take place on October 1 at 4:00 p.m. in Skënderbeu Square in Prishtina. The organizers have described the protest as peaceful.
“I believe tomorrow will be one of the largest protests in history. There will be citizens from all Albanian-inhabited areas. We have information that the number of participants tomorrow will be more than 100,000,” Gucati said.
The protest follows the September 16 first-instance judgment by the Kosovo Specialist Chambers against former KLA leaders Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Jakup Krasniqi and Rexhep Selimi. The four were convicted of war crimes and sentenced to prison terms ranging from 13 to 25 years. The judgment is subject to appeal.
