D.J. from Kočani, the first defendant in the “Pulse” case, has been ordered to remain in pretrial detention for an additional 30 days, the Basic Criminal Court in Skopje announced.

The preliminary proceedings judge accepted the proposal of the public prosecutor from the Public Prosecutor’s Office for Prosecution of Organized Crime and Corruption after the suspect gave a statement in the presence of his defense attorney and the facts and evidence attached to the proposal were reviewed.

The detention was ordered due to the risk of flight, as well as a well-founded concern that the suspect could obstruct the investigation by influencing witnesses.

The new detention measure will take effect on October 3, 2026, as D.J. is currently being held in detention in connection with the case involving the fire at the “Pulse” nightclub.

In the newly opened investigation, D.J. is suspected of the criminal offense of “giving a bribe”, under Article 358, paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code.
