Sixty-three miners at the Trepça mine have been trapped on the 11th level after the main transformer serving that section caught fire.
The incident was confirmed by Mitrovica Fire and Rescue Commander Bekim Ibishi, who said that emergency teams are working to bring the miners out of the mine.
The miners remain trapped underground, while teams on the ground continue operations to evacuate them safely.
