Serbian police have issued a search warrant for Ljubomir Stefanović, owner of the news portal Slavija Info, over allegations of causing panic and disorder through social media posts, according to the Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office in Belgrade.
The prosecutor’s office said there were grounds to suspect that Stefanović published a post on the Slavija Info account on X on October 16 stating: “Aleksandar Vučić will shoot at citizens on election day.”
According to the statement, the post also included a video featuring a digitally generated, generic depiction of Miloš Medenica, a Montenegrin fugitive described in the report as a criminal figure.
In the video, the AI-generated figure allegedly claimed that a high-ranking member of Montenegro’s Škaljari criminal clan would “shoot at the citizens of Serbia after the election theft and the announcement of the victory of the SNS cartel.”
The warrant was issued at the request of the Higher Public Prosecutor’s Office’s Special Department for Combating High-Tech Crime after Stefanović could not be found at his registered address on Saturday, October 17.
Serbian media outlets have reported that Stefanović fled to Montenegro to avoid arrest and prosecution in Serbia. His whereabouts and the allegations against him have not been independently confirmed in the information provided.
The case comes amid heightened political tensions surrounding allegations of election-related violence and claims of electoral irregularities in Serbia.
