The Serbian politician from Kosovo, Rada Trajkovic, has stated that Serbia’s willingness to make compromises for Kosovo can only mean the division of that territory, but also conflicts.

Commenting on Prime Minister Milosh Vucevic’s statement that Serbia is “ready to make compromises” for Kosovo, Trajkovic told Beta agency that this was an attempt by the authorities in Belgrade to return to their “initial positions” with the aim of dividing territory.

“However, even though the president of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, basically handed over all institutions and the lives of Serbs to Pristina, the functionality of Pristina’s authorities has not been realized. The messages that point to the division of Kosovo warn of new destabilization and a campaign against Serbia and the Serbs that we do not need at this moment,” she said.

Trajkovic emphasized that Albin Kurti controls the north of Kosovo with the help of special police forces. According to her, security in Kosovo is being endangered more and more every day. “Kurti implements the ideology of the formation of a great Albania, while Vuçic, through Vuçevic, once again demands the division of Kosovo. Everyone knows that this cannot be achieved without conflict. Both of these strategies could cause a conflict that would end with the expulsion of the Serbs from the north or the entry of our military forces into the north of Kosovo in the name of protecting the Serbs,” said Trajkovic.

She added that NATO is bringing an increasing number of soldiers to Kosovo. “NATO does not want to change the borders of the territory. If Serbia were to become a member of NATO, the issue of Kosovo’s status would be stopped,” said Trajkovic.

Serbian Prime Minister Milosh Vucevic said on Tuesday that Serbia is “absolutely ready to talk with Pristina” and “make compromises” for Kosovo.

Vucevic told AFP that compromise means that no one completely wins and no one completely loses. “It is better to sit down, meet, talk, try to talk. Anything is better than escalation,” she added.
