The President of the National Council of Switzerland, Eric Nussbaumer, has stated that Switzerland is concerned about the growing tensions between Kosovo and Serbia.

Nussbaumer in a joint conference with the Speaker of the Assembly of Kosovo, Glauk Konjufca, said that it is important to normalize relations between Kosovo and Serbia.

“We also talked about the complex relations between Kosovo and Serbia. Switzerland is concerned about the growing tensions between the two countries. For Switzerland, stable peace in the region and the normalization of relations between Kosovo and Serbia is very important, therefore we support the dialogue mediated by the EU”, said Nussbaumer.

He added that Switzerland will continue its commitment to security in Kosovo and the region by providing more than 200 Swiss soldiers to KFOR.

Nussbaumer emphasized that Switzerland is a supporter of Kosovo, and is proud of the integrated Kosovar community in our society.

He announced that during his visit to Kosovo he will also meet Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Foreign Minister Donika Gërvalla and other politicians.

Nussbaumer also said that he will also meet with KFOR where they will talk about security issues in the northern part of Kosovo.
