Serbia is attempting to exploit the killing of the Serbian policeman for propaganda against the state of Kosovo and simultaneously retaliate against Kosovar citizens.

This is what former AKI Chief Inspector Burim Ramadani told KosovaPress while commenting on the killing of the Serbian policeman yesterday in Loznica, Serbia.

The Serbian Ministry of Internal Affairs has stated that in connection with the case, they have arrested two suspects who transported the perpetrator of the murder and that a passport of the suspect was found at the scene, issued by the institutions of Kosovo in the name of Artan Hajrizi – the brother of Faton Hajrizi, who escaped from Smrekovnica prison.

The former AKI Chief Inspector says that the authorities in Belgrade are trying to use it as propaganda against Kosovo and to harass its citizens who travel westward. Ramadani states that the murder of the Serbian policeman has nothing to do with Kosovo.

“From what is known so far, it seems we are dealing with a criminal act, in which the institutions of Kosovo and the state of Kosovo in bilateral relations bear no responsibility. Such cases, although severe for the family of the murdered policeman in Serbia, have absolutely nothing to do with any responsibility for the state of Kosovo, and such criminal cases have occurred all over the world,” he said.

Ramadani says that Serbia is trying to politicize the murder of the Serbian policeman as a criminal act.

“Serbia evidently attempted to politicize this criminal act from the very first minutes, which is why it is extremely necessary for Kosovo to clarify to international partners that the current information suggests it is a non-organized criminal act, not driven or motivated by the state of Kosovo or other political motives. Simply, it is a case where Serbia tries to build propaganda against the state of Kosovo and simultaneously may also attempt to retaliate against the citizens of Kosovo, harassing them on the roads of Serbia, especially emigrants who come to Kosovo and use Serbian roads. Therefore, it is valuable to call on Kosovo’s emigrants to avoid traveling through Serbia. Not just today, but in the coming days as well,” said Ramadani.

He says that criminal acts must be punished as they are unacceptable and cannot hold an entire state accountable.

“It is very clear that in every case of criminal acts, it will be judged as a criminal act that happens in other countries as well, and at the same time, there is no responsibility that can be attributed to an entire state or people. We are witnesses that such criminal acts must be punished by the force of justice and law, and at the same time, it must be declared and clarified that they are unacceptable and as such are not tolerable,” he said.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Albin Kurti has stated that the security organs are gathering information on the case. Additionally, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora has asked emigrants to avoid traveling through Serbia.
