Although it has long taken care to maintain the balance between ties with Russia and the desire to integrate into the EU, Serbia seems to have chosen which of the two it wants more.

The Serbian Deputy Prime Minister, sanctioned by America, Aleksandër Vulin, openly expressed his love for Moscow, with which, as he said, they are part of the great Slavic brotherhood.
“We are a family. We have a history but also a future with it”, said Vulin to the Russian media, Russia Today.

He further adds that Serbia makes its own policies and therefore chose not to be part of the ‘anti-Russian hysteria’.

“The European Union is run by liars. And that’s why Serbia does not want to be part of the European war”, continues Vulin, who repeats the position that they will never join the sanctions against Russia.

Vulin mentioned the bombing of the former Yugoslavia and the “invasion of Kosovo”, as he said, as a reason not to be part of the hypocritical policy of Brussels.

While commenting on the war in Ukraine, the deputy prime minister openly expresses his support for Russia, saying that the West cannot defeat a nuclear power. He considers membership in the BRIC as an exciting alternative to the EU.
