The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, on the 25th anniversary of the Kosovo Rehabilitation Center for Torture Survivors (KRCT), stated that despite the indelible traumas, survivors of sexual violence have shown extraordinary strength in rebuilding their lives.

Kurti expressed that they have begun the process of documenting crimes committed during the war in Kosovo.

“Aside from providing support to the survivors of sexual violence during the war, women’s organizations have also contributed to the drafting of policies that advance traditional justice reflecting the realities and needs of the survivors. Despite the indelible traumas, survivors of sexual violence during the war have shown extraordinary strength to build a new life. Therefore, alongside our ongoing and deep support, we also carry a pain for them.”

“As we work to confront the past, we are committed to fighting injustices and building a fairer and more sensitive society. To this end, we have established, for the first time since the war, a Strategy for Traditional Justice. We have started the process of documenting the crimes committed during the war in Kosovo.”
