The Mountain Rescue Service of Kosovo announced that they have rescued a Bulgarian citizen who was stranded in difficult terrain in Deçan.

In a statement, it was noted that late on October 12, 2024, the rescue service received an emergency call from the Bulgarian citizen on the Via Ferrata trail in Deçan.

“She had completed the Via Ferrata trail, but during her return, due to poor time management, she strayed off the path and lost her bearings, becoming stuck in difficult terrain on the right side of the Deçani Gorge. A team from the rescue service, composed of members from the Deçan and Peja stations, immediately identified her geographical location and set out to search for her,” the statement said.

She received first aid and was then evacuated to the starting point of the Via Ferrata trail.

Additionally, the rescue service reported that the operation lasted approximately six hours and concluded at midnight.
