The leader of the AAK, Ramush Haradinaj, during his visit to the US, met with Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Western Balkans, Alexander Kasanof, at the State Department.

Haradinaj stated that he emphasized “the need for a long-term contract aimed at the accelerated membership of Kosovo in NATO.”

“At the American Department of State, in an open, substantive, and friendly meeting, we discussed the political developments in Kosovo with Mr. Alexander Kasanof, Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs. I thanked Mr. Kasanof, the American administration, and the US Embassy in Kosovo for their maximum commitment and support for Kosovo. In this meeting, I highlighted the need for a long-term contract aimed at the accelerated membership of Kosovo in NATO, as this is a vital step for guaranteeing security and sustainable peace in the region.”

Haradinaj also mentioned “a strategic agreement between Kosovo and the USA” regarding Kosovo’s Euro-Atlantic path.

“I valued that American leadership and commitment are essential for a strategic agreement between Kosovo and the USA and for Kosovo’s progress toward Euro-Atlantic integration. Kosovo’s achievements since the ’90s, including the liberation war and the nation-building process, have been made in close partnership with the United States of America. Kosovo’s membership in NATO should also be a shared victory,” he said.
