Leaders from key European countries have joined in congratulating Trump on his victory, which has yet to be officially declared.
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer congratulated Trump on what he called a “historic victory.”
“As one of our closest allies, we stand side by side to protect our shared values of freedom and democracy. I know that the special U.S.-UK relationship will bring prosperity on both sides of the Atlantic in the years to come,” Starmer said.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz congratulated Trump and noted, “Germany and the U.S. have worked successfully for a long time to promote freedom on both sides of the Atlantic.”
“We will continue to act in the best interests of our citizens,” Scholz added.
French President Emmanuel Macron stated he is ready to work with Trump just as he did during his previous term.
“With your convictions and mine. With respect and ambition. For more peace and prosperity,” Macron wrote in a post on X (formerly Twitter).
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni also congratulated Trump, saying Europe is ready.
“To cooperate as we address unprecedented geopolitical challenges. To keep the transatlantic ties strong, rooted in common values—freedom, human rights, democracy, and open markets,” Meloni said. /REL/
