The Speaker of the Assembly of Kosovo, Glauk Konjufca, stated that the political forum of the Parliamentary Assembly of La Francophonie has as its mission the promotion of cooperation between Francophone countries, strengthening parliamentary capacities, and promoting democracy and human rights throughout the Francophone world and beyond.
He made these remarks during the opening session of the 36th Regional Session of Europe (ARE) of the Parliamentary Assembly of La Francophonie.
“This political forum has at the core of its mission the promotion of cooperation among Francophone countries, strengthening parliamentary capacities, and promoting democracy and human rights throughout the Francophone world and beyond. The rich Francophone culture has been and remains an inspiration for the entire world, while its influence is multidimensional. Modern European democracy could not have been imagined without the intellectual contributions and political ideas of French thinkers. The ideals of freedom, equality, and justice would not have been possible to realize if it had not been for the French Declaration of the Rights of Man and of the Citizen,” Konjufca said, according to EO.
He added that organizing these activities is evidence that Kosovo’s ties with Francophone countries are evident and very friendly.
“For us, as a state, being part of the Parliamentary Assembly of La Francophonie is not only a manifestation of our cultural ties, but also an opportunity for diplomatic engagement and the defense of shared values at the global level, especially in these uncertain times. In this context, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for the support you have also given to our amendment proposed last year by our delegation, to condemn the terrorist attack in northern Kosovo that took place in September of the previous year, with the aim of preventing the destabilization and threat to the sovereignty and territorial integrity of our country,” he said.
