Sonja Biserko, president of the Helsinki Committee for Human Rights in Serbia, analyzed the recent events in Kosovo, placing them in a broader geopolitical context.
Referring to the recent terrorist act in northern Kosovo, Biserko emphasizes that this incident has brought the Western Balkans to the forefront of Western security concerns, reports Danas.
She adds that the swift response of the West in supporting the Kosovo government indicates that European intelligence centers may have information about the organizers of the attack.
“The terrorist act in Kosovo should be viewed in that European context. The fact that the West reacted quickly and supported the government of Kosovo is very telling because European intelligence centers might have information on who is behind that act,” Biserko stated.
Biserko points out that the current situation places Serbia in a sensitive position, especially considering internal unrest and protests in the country.
She suggests that President Vučić may use the incident to divert attention from domestic issues while simultaneously attempting to capitalize on Trump’s victory and potential changes in international policy.
