German Chancellor Olaf Scholz made a surprise visit to Ukraine on Monday to reaffirm Berlin’s support for Kyiv as the Russian invasion continues.
Scholz committed to providing Ukraine with an additional €650 million in military aid, with weapons set to arrive by the end of the year.
He stated, “Ukraine has heroically defended itself against Russia’s aggressive war.”
“I want to make it clear from here that Germany will remain Ukraine’s strongest European supporter.”
He emphasized, “Ukraine can count on Germany.”
