Regarding the explosion on the Ibër-Lepenc canal in Zubin Potok, which the Kosovo government believes was “orchestrated by Serbia,” U.S. Ambassador to Belgrade, Christopher Hill, stated that, for now, the United States “does not see any basis to point fingers at anyone.”
Hill emphasized the importance of a “credible investigation” into the attack, which has been classified as a terrorist act by the European Union. He referred to Serbia’s “declarative readiness” to support a serious investigation and noted the potential participation of international actors.
“An investigation with the involvement of international actors is essential. The Americans are ready for this, and I believe the EU will also make efforts to be involved. I hope we can achieve a result,” Hill said. He also highlighted that while the explosion could have led to serious consequences, fortunately, the situation was resolved within an hour, and everything was normalized within a few days. However, Hill stressed that this does not mean they should not determine how the incident happened and who is responsible.
“I do not believe at this moment that there is a basis to point fingers at anyone. What is important is to conduct a credible investigation. The Serbian government has said early on that it supports a serious investigation,” Hill added.
