Health Minister Arben Vitia stated that Kosovo has taken all necessary measures following the confirmation of the first case of monkeypox in the country.

After visiting the Surgery Clinic with Prime Minister Albin Kurti for the inauguration of new service counters, Vitia told KosovaPress that more information would be shared soon.

“I have the same information as well. We have taken all necessary measures, and for any additional information, I believe the National Institute of Public Health (IKShPK) will provide further updates,” he said.

The National Institute of Public Health of Kosovo announced that on December 26, 2024, in the afternoon, the Microbiology Laboratory confirmed an imported case of Mpox, previously known as Monkeypox, using the RT-PCR method.

IKSHPK has traced all contacts declared by the infected person and their family members, providing them with recommendations for preventive measures and infection control.
