Pope Francis has made his first public appearance since being hospitalized on February 14 due to lung complications.

The 88-year-old pontiff greeted crowds from a hospital window in Rome, marking his first public sighting in over a month.

Doctors treating Pope Francis have indicated that he will require at least two months of rest in the Vatican to recover fully. Dr. Sergio Alfieri, one of his physicians, revealed that the Pope experienced “two very critical episodes” in the past five weeks, where “his life was at risk.”

The Vatican has not yet announced when Pope Francis will resume his full papal duties, but his appearance signals a positive step in his recovery.
