Duda Balje, a newly elected deputy and leader of the Social Democratic Union party, announced she will take legal action against analyst Sadri Ramabaja following his claims that she met with Serbian official Radojičić on February 28. In response to accusations made by Prime Minister Albin Kurti, Balje also addressed claims of political pressure from Serbia.
Balje emphasized that her meetings were strictly focused on the formation of a coalition government. “I had only two meetings related to the government formation process. The first one was with Mr. Xhelal Sveçla in Prizren, and the second with the Prime Minister,” Balje stated. She expressed surprise over claims of her involvement with Serbia, questioning why such accusations were directed only at her when other political figures, including Fatmir Limaj, had made similar demands for government positions.
During an interview with Indeksonline, Balje responded to allegations of Serbian influence, asserting, “I am in the Kosovo Assembly thanks to the votes of Bosniaks, and I cannot be against them. I am not the only deputy to set conditions for the prime minister—this has also been done by Albanian parties and Mr. Limaj.”
Legal Action Against Ramabaja
Balje expressed her intent to file a lawsuit against Ramabaja for his defamatory statements, noting that her family had already consulted with legal counsel. “We will begin legal proceedings regarding the false statements made about me,” she confirmed.
Advocacy for Bosniak Community
Balje also reiterated her strong commitment to Kosovo, emphasizing that she has chosen to live in the country. “This is my country. I will not oppose it for any person, including Albin Kurti. I live here with my family, and this is where I will stay,” she declared.
In her meetings with Sveçla and Kurti, Balje was clear about her support for creating a Bosniak municipality in Kosovo, a request she believes is not only personal but a demand from the Bosniak community. “For four years, no one has addressed the demands of Bosniaks. This is not a request from my party but from the Bosniak citizens of Kosovo,” she added.
Balje also encouraged Prime Minister Kurti to visit Reçan and listen to the requests of the Bosniak community there.
