At a time when Kosovo is facing challenges in forming stable institutions, the German Ambassador to Kosovo, Jörn Rohde, has emphasized the importance of building a stable majority and reaching consensus to ensure long-term stability and development.

He compared the current situation in Kosovo to developments in Germany following elections, highlighting the importance of forming a functional government.

“You know, like in my country, we just had elections. It takes time to form a government. What matters most is having a stable government with a solid majority and consensus to form the new government. And so, I’m looking toward Germany. We hope to form a government by next week. And I think it’s self-evident—I mentioned it in an interview last week—that, especially in these geopolitically unstable times, what is in the interest of countries and people is to have stable governments,” Rohde told EO.

Rohde also stressed the importance of justice institutions and the strengthening of constitutional democracy, highlighting the Constitutional Court as a key element in maintaining democratic order.

Constitutional patriotism is needed because the three pillars of a democracy are the judiciary, the executive, and the legislative. So, it’s very important to have an institution like the Constitutional Court. And constitutional democracy can only flourish if the rules of the game are respected. And the Constitutional Court is there to ensure that the rules of the game are followed. So, in that sense, every institution must do its part, and only then can we have a vibrant democracy,” concluded the German ambassador.
