The acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kosovo, Donika Gërvalla, stated that Serbia’s arrest of former police officer Arbnor Spahiu instead of apprehending and extraditing Milan Radoičić, the main orchestrator of the Banjska attack clearly confirms that the Serbian state stands behind the events in Banjska.
In a Facebook post on Monday, Gërvalla wrote:
“Instead of arresting and extraditing Radoičić and all others responsible, Serbia arrested former police official Arbnor Spahiu a few days ago while he was traveling to Kosovo with his family under the claim that he was involved in preventing the Banjska terrorist attack.
Arbnor Spahiu has not been part of the Kosovo Police since 2022, and this arrest once again confirms that the Serbian state is behind the Banjska attack.”
Spahiu was placed in pre-trial detention on June 9 by Serbian authorities. He is being accused by Serbia of killings allegedly committed in Banjska on September 24, 2023.
Minister Gërvalla emphasized that instead of punishing the true perpetrators, Serbia is targeting individuals who have worked to protect peace and security.
