The technical mandate of the European Union Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo (EULEX) has officially been extended today through a letter exchange between Kosovo’s institutions and the European Union, Rks News reports.
In a letter to the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, the President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, emphasized that EULEX’s renewed mandate remains strictly technical, without executive powers, and is limited to monitoring, mentoring, and advising local justice institutions.
President Osmani also requested the handover of all documents EULEX holds from the time it held executive powers, aiming to enhance transparency and support local judicial bodies.
Furthermore, she stressed that all actions undertaken by EULEX must be in full compliance with the European Convention on Human Rights and the jurisprudence of the European Court of Human Rights.
