Manan Raisi, who represents the Qom area where the Fordow nuclear plant is located, stated that the attack on the underground facility was “superficial.”
“Based on accurate information, I declare that, contrary to the claims of the lying American president, the Fordow nuclear facility was not seriously damaged, and most of what was damaged was only on the ground, which can be restored,” Raisi said, according to Tasnim news agency.
Nuclear Facilities Evacuated, No Radiation Detected
Hassan Abedini, Deputy Director of Iranian national television, told the state broadcaster that Iran had evacuated the three attacked nuclear facilities some time before the bombing.
“Stocks of enriched uranium were moved earlier from the nuclear centers, and no raw materials remained there that, in the event of an attack, could cause radiation and be harmful to our compatriots,” Reuters reported Abedini’s statement.
Reza Kardan, Deputy Director of the Atomic Energy Organization and head of the National Center for Nuclear Safety in Iran, further affirmed that “no radioactive contamination or nuclear radiation was observed outside” the sites and facilities hit by the US airstrikes.
“Preliminary plans were drawn up and measures were taken to protect the safety and health of the dear people in the country, and despite the criminal acts this morning in the attack on nuclear facilities, thanks to previously planned and taken measures, no radioactive contamination or nuclear radiation was observed outside these locations and facilities,” Kardan said, according to the IRNA news agency. He added that “people can continue normal life in the areas around these locations without any worry.”
