Faton Peci, the Vetëvendosje Movement (LVV) candidate for Mayor of Mitrovica and the projected winner according to preliminary results from the Central Election Commission (CEC), has expressed deep gratitude to the citizens for their trust and support.
In a statement shared on Facebook, Peci said he is fully aware of the responsibility he is taking on and vowed to serve Mitrovica with integrity, transparency, and accountability.
“I will work humbly before my citizens, with determination, responsibility, and integrity against crime and corruption — with full transparency and accountability in every decision,” Peci wrote.
He promised that no day of his mandate will be wasted, stressing his dedication to every neighborhood, village, and family in Mitrovica.
“A Victory for the People of Mitrovica”
In his message, Peci described his electoral win as a victory for all citizens of Mitrovica, not just for a political party.
“This victory belongs to you — to Mitrovica and all its people who never stopped demanding dignity, justice, and honest governance,” he stated.
He thanked the structures and activists of Vetëvendosje and Guxo, as well as volunteers and campaign teams, acknowledging that their commitment made the victory possible.
A special note of gratitude was reserved for Prime Minister Albin Kurti, whom Peci called “a man of courage and integrity” for supporting Mitrovica despite threats, pressure, and years of injustice.
Peci praised Kurti for dismantling parallel Serbian structures, tackling corruption, and restoring public trust and safety in the city.
Promises of a Transparent and Responsible Administration
Peci pledged that Mitrovica will now have a leadership that listens, reacts, and keeps its word.
He emphasized that the municipal budget will be used for tangible projects, focusing on infrastructure, education, quality public services, and better living standards.
“I will be a Mayor for everyone — regardless of political affiliation, belief, or background,” he said.
“Public interest will always come before any other interest, and Mitrovica will be treated with the dignity it deserves as a city of sacrifice, labor, and courage.”
Peci concluded by reminding citizens of the city’s mining heritage:
“Mitrovica is the city of miners — those who gave so much to Kosovo. Their greeting, ‘Good luck,’ will guide our shared work for the city’s future.”
