The Commission for Assessing Damages Caused by Natural Disasters, led by Chairman Ali Arifi and members Ali Morina, Bejtullah Krasniqi, Ahmet Daku, and Driton Sylejmani, held an emergency meeting to analyze the situation following the heavy rainfall on November 18, 2025.

The commission noted that although the Directorate for Protection and Rescue of the Municipality of Gjilan has consistently been engaged in clearing riverbeds and streams, eliminating narrow points where possible, and intervening continuously with emergency teams during rainfall, the intensity of the recent precipitation caused rivers to overflow, resulting in damage to households and businesses.

The commission also unanimously decided to immediately go to the field to document and subsequently assess the damages caused.

Chairman Ali Arifi emphasized that for the damage assessment, it is essential that owners of affected households and business entities submit a request to the Commission for Assessing Damages Caused by Natural Disasters at the Citizens’ Center of the Municipality of Gjilan.

The application period runs from November 24, 2025, to December 8, 2025.

Required documentation includes:

  • A written request addressed to the Commission
  • Photographs of the damaged property
  • The exact address of the damaged property/properties
  • Applicant’s phone number
  • A copy of the applicant’s ID card

This initiative aims to ensure proper documentation and fair evaluation of all damages resulting from the recent natural disaster.
