Lëvizja Vetëvendosje (LVV) has officially announced that it will nominate Glauk Konjufca as its candidate for President of Kosovo, Gazeta Express reports.
“In these circumstances, after all efforts to reach an agreement, Lëvizja VETËVENDOSJE! will propose as candidate for President the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Diaspora, former Speaker of the Assembly, deputy of seven legislatures, and the second most voted individual in the history of our Republic, Mr. Glauk Konjufca,” the party’s statement reads.
LVV also stated that it is prepared to assist opposition parties with the necessary signatures if they wish to propose their own candidate.
“At the same time, we once again invite opposition parties to propose a candidate. If additional signatures are needed, we will support them from our parliamentary group,” the party declared.
The statement further emphasized that the December 28, 2025 elections — which followed a ten-month institutional deadlock — delivered what LVV described as the clearest political result in Kosovo’s post-war history, reflecting citizens’ will to end blockages and establish functioning institutions.
According to the party, while the Assembly and Government were constituted without delay, the next constitutional step is the election of the President — a process that requires the presence of at least 80 deputies in the chamber.
LVV reiterated that it had sought a consensual candidate and held multiple meetings with major opposition parties but received no concrete proposals, while its own suggested names were rejected.
The party concluded by expressing confidence that the situation can be resolved without early elections and that consensus remains achievable.
