Milot Rashica described Kosovo’s 1–0 victory over Ireland in their opening Nations League match as very important, highlighting that the team put in a good performance and created numerous scoring opportunities.
Speaking to the official website of the Football Federation of Kosovo (FFK), Rashica said that starting the campaign with a victory, especially at home, was important for the team.
“It was very important to start this campaign with a win, especially the first match, since we also played at home. I believe we played a very good game, dominated from the first minute, and had many chances in the first half.
With a little more luck, perhaps we could have scored two or three goals, but in the end we managed to score in the final minutes and then defended well. So, everything went well,” Rashica said.
The Kosovo forward also spoke about the chances created earlier in the match, noting that fatigue affected the flow of the game, while the substitutions gave the team fresh energy.
“We had chances much earlier to score, but naturally fatigue takes its toll. The opposing team started defending even deeper, in their own area, while with the substitutions we had a little more fresh energy and tried to make the most of it. I believe we did well,” he said.
Rashica has now turned his focus to the next match, when Kosovo will face Austria, aiming for another positive result.
“I believe they are an even stronger opponent, but in the past we have also shown that against strong opponents and big teams we know how to put in good performances. So, we are aiming to go for the three points, and I hope we come back with three points,” Rashica concluded.
