Kosovo Police have confiscated a significant quantity of weapons, ammunition, and other illegal materials from an abandoned house in the Bërxhane neighborhood of North Mitrovica, authorities announced on Wednesday.
According to the official report, after receiving information about the presence of illegal items at the location, police officers carried out a search and recovered:
- an empty magazine for a long firearm,
- a bayonet, a plastic bottle filled with shot, cartridges, and gunpowder,
- a military belt, an anti-personnel mine, and a detonator,
- components for ammunition assembly, former Militia vehicle plates,
- three hunting rifle cartridges and 13 rounds of various calibers,
- two 12.7 mm rounds, two 20 mm rounds, and two 12.7 mm shell casings,
- a winter military jacket, a pair of military gloves, and four Serbian police shirts.
Due to the presence of explosive materials, the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit (EOD) was deployed to the scene and safely removed the gunpowder, 12.7 mm and 20 mm ammunition, as well as the anti-personnel mine with detonator.
Kosovo Police stated that no arrests have been made so far and that the case remains under investigation. The state prosecutor has been notified and has ordered the initiation of proceedings for illegal possession of weapons.
