Acting Prime Minister Albin Kurti, from Podujeva, expressed optimism regarding the resolution of the presidency issue, saying the process is expected to progress smoothly.
He announced that the incoming government cabinet will include most of the names that he and Glauk Konjufca had previously presented as candidates for government, although the list will not be identical. “Many of the names I and Glauk Konjufca presented last autumn will be included, but not identically. There will also be other names,” Kurti said.
The Prime Minister emphasized the importance of quickly forming state institutions so that the Assembly can approve international agreements with the World Bank, the EU Growth Plan worth €882.6 million, and Kosovo’s 2026 budget. He warned that the caretaker government can operate with a 1/12 budget only for February, but not for March, adding that the budget issue must be finalized this month.
Regarding the presidency, Kurti said that the three steps mentioned above must be completed first – forming the Assembly, approving international agreements, and passing the budget. “Once these three steps are completed, we will proceed smoothly with the fourth step,” he stated.
This optimism comes at a critical time, as Kosovo’s institutions are still in the process of being formed, while the country needs approval of key agreements and the budget to ensure the proper functioning of the government and development projects.
