A video published on Friday evening shows the moment a Russian drone strikes a Turkish-owned commercial ship in the Black Sea, at one of the main ports of the Odesa region.

In the footage, filmed by a Turkish sailor on a nearby vessel, an Iranian-made Shahed drone is clearly seen heading toward its target, with its characteristic engine noise heard just moments before impact.

According to Ukrainian authorities, the Russian drone and missile strike caused damage to three Turkish-owned ships in the Odesa ports. Ukraine’s Deputy Prime Minister, Oleksiy Kuleba, stated:

“The attack targeted the non-military supply chain and maritime commercial transport,” adding that “Russia systematically strikes port infrastructure that enables the transport of food and goods to global markets.”

The managing company Cenk Denizcilik reported that the cargo ship M/V CENK T, which was transporting food, was attacked from the air just before entering the port, at around 16:00 local time, causing a fire in its front section.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said this attack shows that Moscow does not take diplomatic efforts to end the war seriously, emphasizing that:

“Russia continues to strike normal life and commercial activity.”
