President Osmani spoke about the agreement signed with the USA in a press conference.
She said that she thanked the U.S. Under Secretary of State, Elizabeth Allen, for the continuous support of the USA towards Kosovo.
“Unfortunately, Kosovo has not been spared from these attacks, which are intensifying as a result of Russia’s influence in the region through its satellite, Serbia. This is not only worrying but poses an active risk for the destabilization of our region. Russia is trying to exert influence by targeting the successes and achievements of the joint efforts of the people of Kosovo with democratic countries, especially with the USA… Therefore, we as a democracy must unite so that they do not achieve this success,” said Osmani.
“Russia’s war of aggression in Ukraine marked the peak moment when democratic countries unanimously and resolutely committed to countering Russian propaganda through disinformation tools. Today’s agreement signed between the Republic of Kosovo and the USA serves this purpose. It does not represent just another agreement; on the contrary, it marks a turning point by significantly strengthening our cooperation… This memorandum of understanding will also encourage continuous coordination and greater cooperation among public institutions in the country, civil society organizations, media, and interested parties.”
In conclusion, Osmani said that Kosovo enjoys freedom and democracy “thanks also to the United States of America.”
