The leader of the Democratic Union for Integration (DUI), Ali Ahmeti, expressed his support for the upcoming protest in Tirana demanding justice for former leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) currently being tried by the Special Court in The Hague.
Speaking to T7’s FRONTAL program, Ahmeti confirmed that discussions are underway to organize a similar protest in Skopje, calling it “a matter of time.”
“We are in talks with the veterans of the National Liberation Army, who are in contact with the veterans’ associations in Kosovo. It’s only a matter of time before such a protest is organized,” Ahmeti said.
“This Protest Is About Justice, Not Politics”
Ahmeti emphasized that the protest in Tirana is meant to raise voices against what he called a major injustice toward the KLA and its legacy.
“We even postponed our campaign because of this protest. We are all KLA. This is not a protest that unites any political group, but one that unites us all under the Liberation Army of Kosovo — to raise our voices against this great injustice,” Ahmeti declared.
He added that all activities scheduled for tomorrow have been suspended, underscoring the protest’s national importance.
According to him, the demonstration aims to send a clear message to The Hague Tribunal that the KLA was a liberation movement, not a criminal organization.
Ahmeti Accuses the Hague Prosecution of “Deviation and Falsehoods”
Ahmeti also sharply criticized the Special Prosecution in The Hague, alleging that the case against former KLA leaders has “deviated” from its original focus and is now based on false and fabricated claims.
“The court changed the charges into baseless and fabricated cases from false and biased witnesses. This has deeply angered us because prosecutors have deviated from the initial case, turning it into one built on lies — often motivated by Serbia’s secret services,” he stated.
