Lieutenant General Claude M. Kicklighter from the U.S. Army has sent a condolence letter to former President Thaçi for the death of his father, Haxhi Thaçi.
In the letter, he expresses his deepest condolences and prays for Thaçi’s release, as well as his reunion with his family.
“With great sadness, we learned of the passing of your father. We express our sincere condolences to you and your family. From experience, we know how painful it is to lose a parent, as nothing compares to such a great loss. We pray that God grants you and your family strength to face these difficult moments.
“We continue to pray for your release, so you can reunite with your family, especially now. It is said in my country that delayed justice is injustice, and your case has been unjust from the beginning. It is heartbreaking that in the last years of your father’s life, you could not be by his side. As I understand, the court allowed you only about three hours to be with him in his final moments,” wrote the American general.
The general also mentioned that he had planned to visit Thaçi in prison, but due to an illness, he was unable to make the trip.
“As you may recall, I had planned to visit you in prison, together with Ambassador Tony Hall and Ambassador Ahmet Shala. Due to illness, I had to cancel my trip, but I have continued to pray for you and your family, and I will continue to do so until the day you are released and reunited with your family, friends, and the wonderful people of Kosovo.
“I hope we will be able to visit you soon, and my prayer is that by then, this nightmare will have ended.”
“America is truly blessed to have such a strong bond of friendship between our two nations and peoples. I am deeply grateful for this friendship,” he concluded.
