Political analyst Sadri Ramabaja commented on Memli Krasniqi’s resignation from the leadership of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), calling it an opportunity to reconsider the party’s positioning.
According to Ramabaja, to revive and reform PDK, two suitable figures are Bardhyl Mahmuti or Genc Prelvukaj, provided they secure the support of influential figures within the party.
He added that the agreement on this decision should be ensured by Sami Lushtaku, Elmir Reçica, and Xhavit Haliti, so that PDK can reemerge as a genuine right-wing party.
“PDK needs proper political leadership, with strategic political thinking. In my view, two figures who can revive and reform it are Bardhyl Mahmuti or Genc Prelvukaj. If they gain support from real influential figures in PDK—people with political insight and the ability to articulate ideas clearly even on the ideological level—they could successfully lead the party,” Ramabaja stated on Debat Plus.
Following these comments, Bardhyl Mahmuti issued his response:
Bardhyl Mahmuti’s Statement:
Dear friends,
After Mr. Memli Krasniqi’s resignation from the leadership of PDK, several journalists asked me to comment on my name being mentioned on Debat Plus on TV Dukagjini by Sadri Ramabaja.
For objective reasons, I could not participate in the requested programs, but I am now making public the statement I sent to journalist Njomza Pllana of TV Dukagjini.
Everyone interested may publish my statement.
Respectfully,
Bardhyl Mahmuti
I hope the legitimate leadership of PDK returns to Kosovo as soon as possible!
Alongside activities related to the “Genocide in Kosovo – Open Wound” Center, aiming to raise public awareness about the crimes of genocide committed by Serbia against Albanians in Kosovo, and through my scientific and literary works to illuminate this crime, my main concern remains the fate of those unjustly held behind bars in The Hague.
It is not necessary to recall that legitimate representatives of Kosovo’s state and party institutions, including PDK, are held in The Hague.
Without delving into the reasons for Mr. Memli Krasniqi’s resignation, I respect everyone’s right to withdraw or compete for the party leadership. However, given the circumstances imposed by the judicial process in what is commonly referred to as the Special Court, anyone assuming leadership of PDK must prioritize mobilizing for the victory of justice and the release of its legitimate leaders.
The selection of defense witnesses for Mr. Hashim Thaçi demonstrated a high level of professionalism, completely dismantling all fabricated pillars upon which the Special Prosecutor’s Office in Kosovo relied. I remain hopeful that the judging panel will impartially weigh the credibility of the defense’s evidence and reject the prosecution’s claims, which were based on fabrications by Serbia’s Secret Service.
I am convinced of the innocence of Hashim Thaçi, Kadri Veseli, Rexhep Selimi, and Jakup Krasniqi! I hope they return to Kosovo soon and contribute to reducing tensions among Albanians.
See you at the protest on November 16, 2025, in Strasbourg!
Respectfully,
Bardhyl Mahmuti
