Security expert Avni Islami has highlighted the danger posed by the Serb List to Kosovo’s national security following the arrest of a Croatian pilot and his Serbian partner from Kosovo, who are suspected of espionage.

The couple was placed in pre-trial detention by the District Court in Split. According to reports, the Croatian pilot, who previously served in KFOR, allegedly passed sensitive information on troop movements to his Serbian partner, who then transmitted the data to the Serb List.

Islami explained that the Croatian pilot was reportedly exploited by a BIA (Serbian intelligence) operative, disguised as a journalist, to obtain and relay information on KFOR operations in Kosovo to the Serb List.

“It is not the first time that EULEX and KFOR personnel, as well as other international institutions operating in Kosovo, have been targeted for espionage. These institutions generally enjoy immunity from Kosovo security agencies and AKI. In this case, a Croatian pilot serving in Kosovo was manipulated by an infiltrated Serbian BIA spy, operating under the guise of journalism. Information on KFOR, EULEX, and other positions was allegedly passed on to the Serb List,” Islami said.

According to Islami, the Serb List acts as the political arm of criminal groups in Kosovo and receives directives directly from the Serbian government, specifically from President Aleksandar Vučić.

“This demonstrates how dangerous the Serb List is for Kosovo’s national security and the kind of operations it undertakes. All its directives come from Belgrade, under the leadership of Aleksandar Vučić,” Islami emphasized.
