Prime Minister of the Bahamas, Philip Davis, speaking alongside President Vjosa Osmani, expressed confidence that the Bahamas’ recognition of Kosovo is the beginning of a relationship they aim to continuously strengthen.
Davis highlighted the significance of the recognition, noting that President Osmani personally signed the recognition documents in the Bahamas, which holds special meaning for his country.
“Allow me to begin by welcoming the presence of our local media, as well as those accompanying you, President Osmani. I believe the importance of this moment is underscored by the fact that you, as President of Kosovo, deemed it appropriate to honor us with your presence to sign the recognition document here in the Bahamas. This carries special significance for us, as you took time from your busy schedule to travel to the Bahamas and see this process to its completion. There is no doubt that this marks the beginning of a relationship that we aim to continuously strengthen. There are many areas of cooperation we will pursue, especially in a world facing so many geopolitical challenges that affect us all, particularly considering the challenges Kosovo has endured over the centuries,” Davis said.
He further emphasized the shared values and experiences between the two countries and the importance of leveraging them to improve the lives of citizens in both nations.
“It is good to share and understand our values and experiences and use them to see how we can improve the lives of our citizens. I have no doubt that we will continue to do this in the future,” he added.
Davis concluded by describing the moment as historic for both countries and confirmed his intention to visit Kosovo next year.
“Welcome to the Bahamas. We have recorded the invitation for my visit, and I believe we will be able to realize it sometime next year. We have an important event next year, but I am confident we will meet. Once again, welcome. This is undoubtedly a historic moment for both countries and our peoples. In the Bahamas, you can rely on a stable and trustworthy partner, one who will pursue policies that promote peace and build our shared future. I thank you for accepting our recognition and for taking the time to come to the Bahamas to formalize it,” he stated.
