Professor of Constitutional Law, Arsim Bajrami, said that as a person who has participated in important processes that Kosovo has gone through, he is giving charitable advice to Prime Minister Albin Kurti.
“I give him a friendly, professional advice and I am ready to help him in this process so that he can show leadership and act as a true leader. But, I will still support him not to allow any creature, any Association, which contradicts the Constitution, and ask all the institutions of Kosovo at his disposal to prevent such a constitutional monster that could cause a problem, but must act with the means of the rule of law”, said Bajrami.
He called on the government to send the draft statute of the Association to the constitutional court, so as he said, to throw the ball to Serbia
“Be a little pragmatic diplomatically. You are under sanctions, Serbia is not under sanctions. You show a bit of pragmatism to blame the sabotage of the Association on Serbia, which is not interested in it… It is interested in keeping Kosovo under tension under military and police threat, in a state of frozen legal status and buying time not to the geopolitical constellation is changing, since Serbia has lost the battles with Kosovo”, he said.
Bajrami expressed his conviction that the international community will not exert pressure on the Constitutional Court regarding the decision on the Association.
“The Constitutional Court is absolutely independent. He has given evidence in many cases, many sensitive cases, even in the case of the Association when he evaluated it… Knowing the judges closely, I believe that they will come to the defense of their professional integrity. And I don’t believe that the international community, including the ambassadors here, will exert pressure, because they know what the Constitutional Court means”, said Bajrami.
