Albanian President Bajram Begaj hosted his Slovak counterpart, Peter Pellegrini, in Tirana, where they discussed regional issues, including Kosovo’s international standing.

During a press conference, Begaj expressed hope that Slovakia would support Kosovo’s efforts to join international organizations. Slovakia remains one of five EU member states that have yet to recognize Kosovo’s independence.

“A key topic of our discussion was Kosovo. Albania continues to play a crucial role in promoting regional stability and fully supports the new state’s journey. For us, Kosovo is a stable democracy and an essential factor for regional stability,” Begaj stated.

He also thanked Pellegrini for Slovakia’s recognition of Kosovo’s passport since 2012 and emphasized Albania’s expectation that Slovakia might reconsider its stance on Kosovo’s international status.
