Sali Bislimi, a Kosovo activist residing in Switzerland and the current president of “Voice of Western Kosovo,” was received today by Theodoros Roussopoulos, the President of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE).
In a post on Facebook, Bislimi shared the details of the meeting, emphasizing the discussions centered on Kosovo’s European values, its efforts for freedom, state-building, and its ambitions for membership in international organizations, particularly the Council of Europe.
Bislimi requested greater dedication and support from Roussopoulos for Kosovo’s European integration. “We are Europe, our roots are deeply embedded in the legacy of Gjergj Kastrioti and the code of Lek Dukagjin, which have helped us uphold our values through the challenges we face,” he wrote. Bislimi urged the European Union to assist Kosovo’s integration without conditions, calling on the five EU member states that have yet to recognize Kosovo to do so for the sake of a shared future.
He also appealed for help in addressing political Islam from external sources, which he believes hinders Kosovo’s integration process. Bislimi concluded that the Council of Ministers is expected to make a decision in favor of Kosovo in May and urged the EU to be more sincere, transparent, and brotherly in its communication with Kosovo’s political leadership.
