Kosovo is experiencing the gradual arrival of very cold polar air masses, which will turn rain into snow, with snowfall expected across almost the entire country.

Cold northern winds will strengthen gradually, causing temperatures to drop below zero, particularly during late evening, nighttime, and early morning hours on Sunday.

Snow accumulation will vary:

  • Larger amounts are expected in hilly and mountainous areas.
  • Lighter snow is expected elsewhere.
  • Some areas may even see brief, unexpected snowfall due to isolated conditions.

The snowfall is not limited to Kosovo; northern and eastern Albania, as well as northern and western North Macedonia, will also see snow.

After Sunday’s snow and the subsequent sharp drop in temperatures, precipitation is expected to pause for several days, providing relief to areas recently affected by severe floods. Only light snowfalls are expected in some regions, while the intense polar cold will persist.

From Monday, precipitation is expected to cease completely, with temperatures gradually rising from Wednesday onwards. However, very cold conditions are forecast for Monday and Tuesday mornings.
