The Faculty of Law of the University of Prishtina will establish advanced cooperation with the International Nuremberg Principles Academy — a unique institution with an international reputation, located at the historic site where the Nuremberg Trials took place (Nuremberg, Germany). The Academy is focused on the advancement of international criminal law and human rights.

The Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Avni Puka, carried out an official visit to Nuremberg on 10–12 December 2025, upon invitation from the Academy. During the visit, in addition to participating in presentations at its forum and holding meetings with staff and researchers involved in the Academy’s work, the Dean was received in a special meeting by the Director, Prof. Christoph Safferling.

The cooperation with the Nuremberg Academy will include study visits, participation of academic staff and students in conferences, high-level research activities, forums, seminars, joint research projects, and publications within the framework of the Academy.

In particular, the cooperation will focus on supporting the English-language master’s program of the Faculty of Law — “Human Rights, International Criminal Law and Transitional Justice.” This support includes lectures by professors from the Nuremberg Academy and the Law School of the University of Erlangen, as well as organizing study visits for students of this program to Nuremberg. The cooperation will also support the development and advancement of the mission of the “Center for the Study of Genocide, the Holocaust and Transitional Justice” established within the UP Faculty of Law.

Overall, the work of the Nuremberg Academy, as a prestigious institution, supports the fight against impunity for major international crimes such as genocide, crimes against humanity, war crimes, and the crime of aggression. The Academy’s activities are built upon the legacy of the Nuremberg Principles — a lasting legacy of the Nuremberg Trials and a powerful symbol of the rule of law and justice for international crimes.
